Japanese buffet for supper anyone?

E-mail PDF

Met up with a friend last week

His name is.. well, let's just call him xhole. In order to satisfy his fetish with Japanese food, I've decided to con him to this place..

Where one of the best Japanese buffet in town is located. But in order to enjoy the current promotion, I have to wait till the "supper" section of the restaurant to eat.

Sashimi is at a galore.

So are all the other seafood cooked in various styles.

Of course, unagi unagi unagi!

AND Hagen Daaz! Scoops after scoops of fattening ice-cream eaten at SUPPER time...

Well, the diet starts tomorrow anyways~

Chili Pan Mee 辣椒板面

E-mail PDF

Seems like I've been eating a lot lately.. Hmm.. That explains the hike in belly circumference.. @#&*@$!!

For those of you used to the typical way of eating pan-mee (板面), this is something different, a variant of the normal pan-mee, if u will.

Location: Somewhere near Chao-Kit Road, KL

It comes with a bowl of plain noodle, dry - no soup no kicap, nothing. Throw in a half boiled egg (with the egg yoke still in liquid form.. yum yum) and some anchovies and pork-meat-crumbs.

Up till now, everything seems normal, and the noodle is actually tastless right now. So the miracle of this dish is all in this container:

CHILI!!! Fried and salted dried chili! Yes, just by looking at it, my head is already sweating... It is damn hot!
You add as much as you can take and mix them up with the noodle.

Not bad indeed.

Pork Leg Noodle 豬腳面

E-mail PDF

One of my favourite meals. Once in a while, I'd go and pamper myself or bring a friend to makan-makan.

Pork Leg Noodle (豬腳面)
I dun really know how to eat "pork leg" that well, so I usually opt for more meat instead of the bones/cartilage.

It's not one of those "Wow! So special!" kinda food, instead it's just nicely cooked. The pork is cooked till it's really soft and tender (easily cut and separable). The gravy is thick, and slightly sweet-ish. Its served with this special chili. Dunno how to explain it.. Its salt-ish (but it's not soy sauce), pretty spicy/hot, and goes well with the mee.

If u wanna give it a try, call me when u r in town Smile

Coconut Ice-cream

E-mail PDF

Creative people can always come up with new products to sell using their local resources. If you know me enough, you'll know that I am NOT talking about my beloved country with THIS tone.

I know this could hardly be classified as "award winning" creativity, but I'd like to see more in our country. Anyways, here goes:

Location: Chatuchak weekend market, Chatuchak Park, Bangkok

The coconuts meat were scarped into slices and left in the opened shell.

One scoop of ice-cream is then filled inside the shell, on top of the previously scraped meat. Sprinkle chunks of nuts, and it's ready:

Opps, forgot about the spoon and the flag. Well, you get the picture. On a hot sunny day, after a long walk, this is a good treat!

Oh, they serve FREE coconut juice to go with the ice-cream too! How great is THAT!

Instant Fried Rice

E-mail PDF

Name: Fried Rice
Price: NTD24

You know, these people in the big cities... They want all their food to be instant and readily available. When ever they needed. So some guy invented 7-11 that opened 24hrs a day, 365 days a year. And then they come up with all these ideas of packing all sorts of traditional food the way you would an instand noodle. What's better (compared to instand noodle) is that, you don't even have to COOK them. All you need to do is unwrap the plastic and chew away. Hell, they even heat it up in the microwave right at the payment counter for you if you need it hot!

Big city people... They're just so... facinating~
